About Me

My name is Ashley Devarajan and I have been sewing since I was a kid. My grandmother and I used to hand stitch Barbie clothing together and she showed me how to draft my first primitive patterns. One magical day, my dad surprised me with my very own sewing machine (salvaged from the town dump). It ran perfectly with a little duct tape and patience. My love took off from there and I haven't stopped since. I have, however, added some machines to the pack (four to be exact).
Just a few of the thousands of reasons I love sewing is that it evokes creativity, imagination, persistence, focus, and pride. Through years of crafting and creating, I have developed an eye to see beauty and potential in everything.
My passion is in upcycling. I love giving new life and purpose to old, outdated, or 'junked' items.
My mantras:
Why buy new, when you don't have to?
Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without.
Thrift shopping is an invigorating sport (Goodwill is my three year old's favorite store on this planet) and creating new items from the old, unloved ones is equally as invigorating.
A little more personal: I love biking, and once upon a time I raced on a collegiate mountain bike team. I have a super awesome and supportive hubby, and two little tiny humans (who I love making clothes for). I try to live minimally, consciously and fully. I am also a nurse-midwife. Helping women become mothers and greeting the freshest humans on the planet is an absolute honor.
